Just Jest

In God, we trust; In mediocrity, we rust,
Innovation is pretext; Effort, we detest.

Roses and rainbows cherish we must,
Thorns and tears beneath are just.

Egos, to arrest; Sincerity, to attest;
Vanity, to resist; Prejudices, to protest;

Life is jest; Liveliness is best;
In time’s crest, how hard is our crust?

Lighten inner mist prior to turning dust;
And on destiny’s test, where do we rest?
